Key Highlights / Scope of Work
Cox Mechanical partnered to deliver a 12-story, 310,000 sq. ft. core/shell building located in Boston’s historic Fenway neighborhood. The mixed-use facility includes lab spaces, offices, R&D spaces, ground-floor retail, and below-grade parking. Scope included delivery of a fully integrated mechanical system featuring; (1) 6,000-gallon fuel oil tank, (5) Stacked AHUs/EAHUs, (3) Cooling towers, (2) Water-cooled chillers, (1) Modular heat recovery chiller, (1) Large air-source heat pump, (1) Konvekta energy recovery module, and (2) Steam skids.
Challenges Faced
Project challenges included a complex high-pressure steam piping installation, and utilizing a tower crane to rig mechanical equipment through existing structural steel.
Solutions and Innovations
Cox adjusted the project schedule in real time to accommodate design changes and collaborated closely with all trades to execute critical rigging operations without disruption.
Results / Outcomes
The project was completed on time and on budget, meeting all client expectations for quality, coordination, and system performance.
