Key Highlights / Scope of Work
Cox Mechanical partnered closely on this direct-to-owner, mixed-use, four-story core and shell building located in the Hood Industrial Park. A key design feature of the project was the integration of a Konvekta Energy Recovery System, intended to significantly enhance the building’s energy efficiency and environmental performance.
Building equipment included; (4) large supply/exhaust risers, each 10’x6’, manifolded into single 40’ sections that were placed via openings in the roof of the building through to the first floor. Cox managed all hoisting and rigging operations, meticulously planning and executing each lift within a confined urban industrial site.
Challenges Faced
A key challenge was the installation of oversized ductwork — measuring 13 ft. by 6 ft. — to connect the Exhaust Air Handling Unit to the vertical risers.
Solutions and Innovations
Impactful strategies involved off-site prefabrication, utilizing our state-of-theart fabrication facility to prefabricate the pump skids. The oversized duct work required Cox to custom design and fabricate bracing and support systems to accommodate both the size and structural load of the installation.
Results / Outcomes
Cox was able to implement field modifications, maintain alignment with the overall construction timeline, and uphold the project’s sustainability and operational goals. This project was successfully completed on budget.
