Cox proudly supports local charities and organizations benefiting the communities we work in.  In the winter of 2007-2008, Cox and Cambridgeport Custom were approached with a unique challenge.

The Challenge

Courageous Sailing Center had a poorly ventilated paint shed where they did most of the work on their fleet of 20 foot sailboats.  The room was constantly full of dust and fumes from the routine sanding and painting of the boats.  A solution to get the dangerous solvents and chemicals associated with marine paint and epoxy had to be found.

The Solution

As a team, Cox and Cambridgeport designed an air filtration unit to filter all of the air in the paint room six times every hour.   A custom dust collection unit, powered by an air compressor, was installed downstream of a Camfill Farr loose-fill sorbent canister filter system.  The filters offered maximum sorbent exposure, maximum media utilization and air tight construction.  Cambridgeport built the unit and Cox rigged it along with associated ductwork.

The Result

The Cox team were able to donate an efficient, working solution that the Courageous Sailing Center had been struggling with for years.  The rapid air filtration kept volunteers safe from harmful fumes and dust.
